Free People Uses Instagram and Facebook the most of any platforms they're present on. Their Pinterest seems to be used for mood boards, new clothing collections, and the products they have on their website. Their YouTube is used a lot for their self care and wellness campaigning and some style guides.

Motel Probably doesn't have as large a following, even on their more frequently used platforms because they're a line carried by a lot of retailers rather than directly from the manufacturer. They've started something newer by interacting and posting on TikTok with short fashion clips and videos.

Rebecca Minkoff is a business targeting a slightly different audience than the other companies I've used for this assignment and because it is an older audience they're targeting, it makes sense they're primarily using platforms used by older audiences.

I noticed that the companies are more active on social media applications other companies use, but some also use applications less commonly by businesses. Dollskill using Tumblr was a bit surprising for me to see because I haven't thought about the platform itself much in years. Its a creative tactic for the company, though because they appeal to an alternative base and that platform is frequently used by the same base.

Rebecca Minkoff was an example of how a more traditional, older clientele base requires more focus on certain social media platforms as well. I know many adults 35+ that primarily use Facebook and Instagram, and it doesn't make sense for a company with that base to focus time, money, and energy on marketing, interactive, and staying active on platforms not contributing to positive figures overall.

I enjoyed looking at the different factors of each company's social media activity because I know how important that is to track. The tracked results are vital for efficiently posting and advertising, and potentially spending money, on the social media platforms that work best for a specific business and reaches their customer base.

  1. Lorin, great job on the blog. It was interesting to read about different clothing and accessory companies. (I've been living in leggings and t-shirts for the last year). You had a great observation about Motel using TikTok. That is a great way to show their clothing and interact with current and potential customers.

  2. Hello Lorin! Great research field:) I’m doing a little bit of fashion (K fashion) and it’s so much to research in the social media field! I’ve seen Dolls Kill on Instagram and it’s a super unique clothing brand with such a creative aesthetic, great to research and take notes on! 📝

  3. The company's that you choose were super interesting but I almost wish you wrote it without the bullet points and used more of a paragraph format because it would be a little easier to look at and digest. Overall the information was great and it looks like you put a lot of work into this blog post. Great job!
